James M. Alsup is a shareholder who has practiced with this firm since 1967 and
currently serves as President. Alsup also served as Assistant City Attorney in
Midland, Texas from 1964 to 1967. His principal practice areas include contracts,
corporate finance, asset acquisitions and dispositions, commercial loan transactions,
real estate, probate and trust.
Alsup is a Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and a Member of the American Bar
Association. He has served as Chairman for the State Bar of Texas Insurance Trust
Board of Trustees, as President of the Midland County Bar Association, and as a
Director of both the State Bar of Texas and Texas Young Lawyers Association. He is
admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. District Courts for the
Western and Northern Districts and the U.S. Tax Court. He is also a U.S. Army Veteran.
Alsup currently serves on the board of several for profit entities. He also served on
the Board of several charitable and civic organizations, including Schreiner University,
Texas Bar Foundation, Permian Basin Area Foundation (Advisory Governor), Midland Memorial
Hospital and Medical Center Board of Trustees, Midland Area Aids Support, Inc., Permian
Basin MHMR Foundation and Hospice of Midland. He is also an Elder and former Trustee for
his church where he also teaches.
Alsup received his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin and law degre
in 1964 from the University of Texas Law School.
