Derek Cook Bio

Derek is a Shareholder in LCA’s trial section handling lawsuits and appeals involving oil and gas, commercial disputes, real estate, personal injury, and creditor’s rights.  Derek is a Past President of the Midland County Bar Association and served as the Director for District 16 on the Board of Directors of the State Bar of Texas.  Derek currently serves on the Texas Lawyers Assistance Program Committee.  Beyond his formal bar service, Derek is devoted to providing pro bono legal services in civil matters, working with youth through Midland Teen Court, and advocating for and working with lawyers and others suffering with mental health and addiction issues.  Derek, an excellent communicator, has published legal related articles, continuing legal education papers, and is a frequent speaker on legal issues and attorney wellness.

Derek and his wife, Carly, have made Midland their home since 2011. They have two children, Nolan, 2, and Nora, 1.
