Steven C. Kiser Bio

Steve Kiser joined the firm in 1980 and has spent the last four decades serving our clients in the areas of appellate, trial, and alternative dispute resolution. As the firm’s primary appellate attorney, he consults with the firm’s other trial attorneys on motions, briefs, and jury charges. He has broad experience in oil and gas litigation, is Board Certified in Civil Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and has many years of experience as a mediator and arbitrator, having conducted hundreds of mediations.

In addition to oil and gas industry trials, Mr. Kiser has also represented clients in litigation in numerous other areas including will contests, shareholder litigation, personal injury claims, and a wide range of commercial disputes. He has served as appellate counsel in numerous appeals in both state and federal courts, and has filed or defended numerous petitions for review in the Texas Supreme Court.

Mr. Kiser’s deep experience makes him a sought-after speaker for seminars within the oil and gas industry as well as trial, appellate law, and employment law.

Mr. Kiser is active in the Midland community, having served on several civic bards, and has been an elected member of the Board of Trustees of Midland College since 1986.

Mr. Kiser grew up in Midland and has spent his entire professional life here. He and his wife, Dana, also a Midland native, have each lived in Midland more than 60 years and raised their two children here.
